                                 ST. JOSEPH’S ANNOUNCEMENTS


The Wathena EMS is sponsoring the 2018 Otto Schultz Memorial Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, September 23rd from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Wathena Community Center.  They will be serving homemade spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert.  There will be a free will donation which will be used toward the purchase of medical supplies, equipment and training materials.


Knights of Columbus News: Grand Knight is Eugene Weishaar.  Note from Gene:  I want to invite those of you who have not been asked to come and join our Knights of Columbus organization.  There are many who want to join but haven’t been asked.  I will be more than willing to help you get started.  Please feel free to talk to any Knight and they can help.  Thank You.    Gene 


Knights of Columbus Council #9532 will sponsor the annual Pro-Life Chain Sunday, October 7th beginning at 3:00 p.m. along Hwy. 36.  Please meet at the Firehouse to receive your signs, or you may bring your own.


St. Joseph’s Finance Council will meet Tuesday, October 9th at 6:30 p.m.





Knights of Columbus Council #9532 News: Knight of the Month for September is Jacob Smith, family of the month for September is the Delores Vertin family.  The next meeting of Council #9532 will be Wednesday, October 3rd at 8:00 p.m.  Thanks to the John Karn family for the donation to the Knights of Columbus.  The money will be used to purchase Ultra Sound machines.  Three more will be placed in Kansas to support the newborn.  When a month has five weekends, there will be a rosary, beginning at 4:30 p.m. prior to Mass on the fifth Saturday.  There will be a rosary on Saturday, September 29th.  Respect for Life Sunday will be represented along Hwy. 36 on Sunday, October 7th at 3:00 p.m. for 1 hour.  Please come and support this effort.                                 


CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE to the servers lists.  It has been decided that only two servers will be needed per Mass.  The Knights of Columbus will assist at every Mass.

             Sacristans for the coming months are: November - Jan Miller and Theresa Rohrer; December - Jerri Michaels and L.C. Gladden.           


Parish Center - Please schedule any use of the Parish Center by contacting the parish secretary to determine the availability of the building and to avoid any possible conflict with other events.


Confessions are scheduled each Saturday at 4:30 p.m. prior to the 5:00 p.m. Mass.  Please utilize this opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.


Anyone who is homebound or ill and would like to receive home communion or if you have a loved one who would like to receive a blessing from Fr. Francis, please contact the parish office at 989-4818.






Anyone wishing to offer a Mass in memory of, or in honor of a loved one (deceased or living), may do so by contacting Lori Vertin.  There is a suggested donation of $20 per Mass intention.  If you would like a particular date for the Mass, please allow 3 months for scheduling.
