Family

The family of God is the root of all human families.  A wife and a husband aren’t officially a family until they have children, hence the term “start a family.”  The family of God existed before creation.  The Blessed Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, existed before creation, which is described in Genesis 1.  It is through their being that everything else came to be.  (John 1:1-4) 

Jesus existed then as Pure Spirit, but in the fullness of time, He came to us in the Flesh.  (John 1:14)  He made His entry through the normal route every human takes, through His mother.  (Galatians 4:4-7)  A family is a father and mother under the same roof with their children.  That is the definition of family.  Christ understood this being an only child and God.  He gave the Church Mary as our Spiritual Mother. 

After receiving the Body and Blood of Christ at the Last Supper, the disciple Jesus loved, received Mary as his mother.  (John 19:25-27)  Christ didn’t offer her before, but only after.  All who receive the Body and Blood of Christ recognize Mary as their mother.  Jesus knew that the House of God and Family of God is not complete without a Father and a Mother.
